Last LSS of the Month...
...unless I decide to trawl YouTube again tonight and find another song to fall in love with or something.
加藤ミリヤ×清水翔太 - Love Forever
October has been very good to me in terms of musical (re)discovery. Especially songs that I have been looking for sometime now. Case in point: Love Forever by 加藤ミリヤ×清水翔太. I caught part of the tune in some ranking on a music show (most likely, Music Station) but attributed it to the wrong song, which led to frustrating online searches. Was this what my horoscope meant when it said I will get today what I've been wanting for a very long time? :P
Was confused when I downloaded what I thought was the PV and the song sounds slightly different. Turns out they also have another version (see embedded video below). It's also as cute and heartrending. Can't decide if I like this or the previous one better. Love Forever or Forever Love. Like apples and oranges. Or rather, apples and more apples.

Feel Like Oversharing Tonight
(Questions courtesy of Plinky.com)
Do you think you'll ever try living in another country?
I sure would. I love the idea of being a stranger and starting over in a place where nobody knows me. I want to discover myself and see what kind of person I really am and if my personality is based on my true self or just a result of the interactions I go through everyday with the people I see everyday. Putting on that face I need to function to go through the motions of this particular style of living, if you will. Things like that are fun to ponder about.
What's the first thing you do when you get off work?
Eat! I always get so hungry at the end of the day. I would drop by at a nearby fastfood restaurant (usually McDonald's; bad, I know) and have a couple of cheeseburgers with maybe a side of fries and hot fudge sundae. Then, wash them all down with Sprite. It's a wonder I'm not morbidly obese yet.
What makes you nervous?
Public speaking. Swarms of bugs. Undersea creatures (ceiling-length aquariums full of them darting to and fro give me the heebie-jeebies) except for dolphins and seals. Large bodies of water. Sloths. The nighttime sea. Mice. Amphibians. Reptiles. Daguerrotypes. Basements.
Make a list of movies you believe everyone should see at least once.
Off the top of my head...
In what ways would you like to change the world?
Not sure how but I would make it so that everybody would be more ecologically conscious. There will be less industrialization. Animal rights will be aggressively protected. And everybody will be kinder to everybody else. Simple things but it would be great if they actually happen.
Do you like surprises? Why or why not?
That depends. I like surprises only if they are actualizations of wishes and desires that I still wish and desire. If you know what I mean...
If you had your own restaurant, what would it be called?
Would you eat at a place named Harlequin Sweets?

The Body Shop Concealer Pencil - Mainly used for the battlefield that is my chin. After years of using MAC concealers and having to contend with oily orangey patches emerging on my face a few hours after application even though I've fixed them with a dusting of MAC powder (I'm never entirely sure if it's the weather or the way I apply it), I decided to go back to TBS concealers earlier this year. My only criterion for concealers is that it must last the entire working day without reapplication and TBS delivers.
Etude House BB Magic Cream - Got caught up in the BB cream craze, haha (I have, like, seven other BB cream tubes in stock). It does live up to the hype; my face looks smoother and I can skip the foundation. The only downside is that it seems to set off the oil glands; I usually have to blot my face later in the day/night.
Majolica Majorca Lash Gorgeous Wing Neo - Love, love, love. Makes my lashes look lush and feathery as if they are about to fly off. I do prefer the drugstore-brand mascaras, if you consider the fact that we need to dispose of mascaras after three months of use. I also bought the Majolica Majorca Skin Remaker with it, but got it just for the pretty case, to be honest.
MAC Russian Red - My "Holy Grail" lipstick. Can be very intense for casual look. I usually just dab some on and smear it with whatever lip gloss I have on hand. For special occasions, it's full on.
The Body Shop Eye Definer - I am so clumsy with liquid eyeliners. This pencil liner is really convenient, especially when I'm in a hurry and can't be arsed to draw neat lines. I always end up with raccoon eyes at the end of the day, though. Maybe I need to invest in primer or something.
Okay, seems like I'm not entirely satisfied with most of these, but with makeup products, I rarely do. Can't wait for the day when I can just roll out of bed still looking gorgeous even with horrid bedhead.

It's almost four in the morning and I've given up on sleep. Been trawling YouTube again, this time for old Damon Albarn songs, and stumbled upon this clip. Aren't those holograms the most amazing thing you've ever seen in your lives?! I love the audacity of 2D sending somebody a text message right in the middle of the performance! This is one of the very few lives that never fail to give me goosebumps every time I watch them. And this song! This song will be my wedding anthem.
Forgive the hyperness. Didn't I say it's four in the morning?

Shooting From the Hip Just Gets You Lots of Crotch Shots

Cleaned out my drawers earlier this morning in a fit of domesticity and found this little guy lurking in the corner. Feeling nostalgic for my wide-eyed days of yore when I took pictures of virtually everyone and everything with a film camera(!!) and went on lomocrawls practically every weekend. Nowadays, I just whip out my phone and shoot. Nothing beats the sheer convenience of camphones, especially when most of the pictures I take on the spur of the moment are for this photo diary.

Apparently, It's Still Bleach Week at coathangerWINGS

Interrupting the geekery to note that this is also the week a chapter in my life ends, as the cliché goes. I have already said my goodbyes and all to everyone in my own subdued fashion. After brooding on the decision for so long, I was certain it's a sound one given the next course of action I will be taking. Every once in a while, I do feel a twinge of regret -- I hate giving up without exerting at least a decent amount of effort -- but even I can see that closing this door (even temporarily) will work for me in the long run.
Soundscape to Ardor (鷺巣詩郎)
...is the best anime OST of all time! Give it a listen, seriously, even if you're not an anime fan.
Doesn't the melody make you feel like you're looking into forever? I will always remember the summer of 2010 as that time I was unhealthily obsession with this song. I played it all the time on the piano. It's a fairly simple piece with lots of whole portion (not just bar) repetitions so one can get it down in just a weekend. Even if you've never had piano lessons. Look at this guy.
Also, I'm up at three in the morning because I suddenly feel compelled to trawl YouTube for all remixes of Soundscape to Ardor. This is the best one, I think, if my feeling like wanting to fly when I listen to this is any legitimate indication. It even has a pretty Dubstep portion!

Nobody else has more stock in absurdity than the Brits (except maybe the French. Also, those crazy Bolsheviks. Oh hell, let's throw in the Nihonjintachi, too). Long live Imhotep.
PS. If you bothered to solve the post title, you'd end up with a geeky way to say "I love you." LOL.

| A card from a deck I would absolutely love to have, The Victorian Romantic Tarot |
Some months ago, I signed up for the mailing list at a tarot website I frequent and every once in a while, they send me an e-mail featuring a card from the Major Arcana accompanied by an exposition of all its possible meanings, either as a standalone or depending on its position in the reading. It's uncanny how each e-mail comes at times when the implications of that card would be considered relevant at that particular point in my life. Makes me want to go back to practicing my tarot reading. It has been years since I even took my tarot deck collection out of the drawer I keep them in.
If we're talking about knowing how things really stand and what is to come, I have a feeling we all, and I mean all of us, already has the ability to discern what is really happening. Time is a shaky concept, at best. It's just easier for some to sort out the "big ball of wibbly wobbly... time-y wimey... stuff" (thank you, Dr. Who). And for people like me, we need divinatory tools like the tarot to unravel the ball.
Is it inevitable that I turn to the cards when I'm at the proverbial crossroads? Right smack on the middle of it right now. I suppose it's good that I can finally cross unviable options off my list, but the uncertainty regarding the steps I must take next is killing me. I've got half a mind to leave everything behind and retire early in a lovely flat in London. Live out the rest of my days roaming around museums, taking

Yuletide 2010

I suspect part of my fascination with photography is that looking again at the pictures I took tend to evoke questions of what and why I chose to remember and what and why I chose to forget.

As much fun as it is to look like someone other than myself for a while, that will be the last and only time I let anybody convince me into having the top part, or any part, of my hair rebonded, though I've been told it was largely my fault for leaving things up to a Korean hairstylist who specializes in straight hair. Said rebonded part now hangs in limbo between the kinky roots that are growing with a vengeance and a bottom of seemingly random ringlets, making me look like I have Multiple Personality Disorder, follically speaking. From the look of things, it will take at least another year before I can have the straight strands safely sheared off and for my hair to return to its normal anarchic state again.

I love having cute guys like these hanging out on my desk while I'm at it, furiously pounding away on the laptop. Makes me feel like I'm not all alone in my work, somehow. They are my tiny cheerleaders. I gave each and every one of them a distinctive voice and they go Hang in there!, 頑張ってください〜!, 화이팅〜!, et cetera. It's actually quite encouraging, even if they are imaginary, though sometimes they would get really rowdy and demand San Miguel beer and pizza with anchovies when all I need is a moment of quiet.
And how can it be October already?! The year just barely started!
